The City is
positioning itself to lead the Coachella Valley into greater prosperity
through traditional development (commercial, manufacturing, retail), not
so much through tourism. Tourism, however, is certainly part of the
package, the home of many resorts and golf courses.
Indio
offers many other things to do, such as, shopping, fine dining, golf,
tennis and glittering casino nightlife, bowling to
balloon rides. The Parks and Recreation District provides activities for
young and old which include: swimming, dancing, karate, ballet,
calligraphy, and organized team sports. There is a Boys and Girls Club,
a cultural museum, wild bird center, movie theaters, casino, many
festivals, golf, tennis, as well as many other amusements in nearby towns.
As for public parks, there are about seven - one with a sports complex of
playing fields.
